On Friday, August 18th , join us for a presentation by Allyson Peerman on the topic: "Leading with Soul".

Our mission is to elevate the role of leadership in the lives of the citizens of Central Texas; to focus on the vitality and necessity of regional leadership capital; and to serve others through the process of encouraging individuals to grow, prosper and make a significant difference through the practice of leadership skills.

Allyson Peerman is the Global Community Affairs Director for Advanced Micro Devices. As such, she is responsible for community affairs activities at AMD sites worldwide. In 2005, AMD contributed $5.6 million in cash to nonprofit organizations and schools in the communities where it operates. Another $2 million was donated in-kind.

In addition to corporate contributions, Allyson oversees the company’s volunteerism, executive engagement activities, issues management, relationship building, community public relations and global recognition programs. AMD has been recognized in several states and countries for its leadership in school partnership and workforce development initiatives.

Allyson received her bachelor’s degree in public relations from the University of Texas at Austin. She has 27 years experience in the field of public & community relations, including 17 years with AMD. She also has a long history of active engagement in the Austin community. Allyson is the immediate past chair of the Skillpoint Alliance Board, current serves on the Executive Committee of the Austin Area Research Organization, and as Development Chair of the UT College of Education Foundation Advisory Council. She was recently appointed chair of the United Way Lifelong Learning Council and is an advisory board member of Rosy Health Care Services, Inc.

Allyson is a 1998 recipient of the Sam Walton Business Leader Award for her efforts in education, and was named a “Hero for Children” by the Texas Education Agency in May 1999. She was named Outstanding 1988-89 Class Member by Leadership Austin at its 20th anniversary event. In November 2002, she became the first recipient of the Rostow Leadership Award given by The Austin Project. She was subsequently recognized by the Lone Star Girl Scouts Council as a “Woman of Distinction” in May 2003 and as a “Profiles in Power” winner by the Austin Business Journal in 2004 .
