On Friday, November 17th, join us for a presentation by Tom Segesta, General Manager of the Four Seasons Hotel, on the topic Fifteen Characteristics of Leadership..
Our mission is to elevate the role of leadership in the lives of the citizens of Central Texas; to focus on the vitality and necessity of regional leadership capital; and to serve others through the process of encouraging individuals to grow, prosper and make a significant difference through the practice of leadership skill.
Its easy to see why Tom Segesta excels in the hospitality business
hes passionate about it. For me, its all about creating memories for people, says Segesta. Thats what we do in the hospitality business. For 18 years Tom Segesta has been creating memories for guests of Four Seasons Hotels and Resorts.
After four years with Ritz Carlton Hotels in Atlanta, Segesta decided to join the Four Seasons Hotels and Resorts team. Beginning as the Director of Housekeeping for the former Four Seasons Hotel Seattle, Segesta worked for many of the most decorated hotels in the company. Over the years he has worked in five AAA Five-Diamond hotels including Four Seasons Hotel Vancouver, Boston, Newport Beach and Las Vegas.
The unique thing about working for Four Seasons Hotels and Resorts is the sense that we are one big family working together to create excellence in hospitality, says Segesta. There is a feeling of pride and teamwork that exists in every member of the staff. Plus, we have a lot of fun at work.
As general manager of the AAA Four-Diamond, Mobil Four-Star Four Seasons Hotel Austin, Segesta is responsible for delivering anticipatory service to guests in the states capital. His role is to oversee a team of 340 full-time employees; ensuring that expectations are exceeded daily for guests of the 291-room property.
Being in the hospitality business comes down to two things: your guests and your employees, states Segesta. For our guests, we strive to give them time and productivity, things they desperately need. We do what we can to take the stress out of their daily life. Segesta goes on to say, With our employees, I strive to help develop and grow people personally and professionally. We try to create an environment for people to reach potential they didnt think possible.
Segesta is an active member of the Austin community, serving as a director for the Austin Symphony and on the Board of Directors for the Greater Austin Chamber of Commerce and the Austin Convention & Visitors Bureau. In addition, he is president of the Austin Hotel & Lodging Association.
