On Friday, July 20th, join us for a presentation by Brian McCoy on the topic: "Business as UnUsual."
Our mission is to elevate the role of leadership in the lives of the citizens of Central Texas; to focus on the vitality and necessity of regional leadership capital; and to serve others through the process of encouraging individuals to grow, prosper and make a significant difference through the practice of leadership skills.
Brian McCoy was born in Galveston, Texas, and graduated from Ball High School in 1972. He graduated from Texas Tech University in 1975 with a BBA in finance.
Brian married his high school sweetheart, Wetonnah Lane, in 1976, and they have two grown children. Their son, Reid, earned both his Bachelor and Masters degrees from Texas A&M. He is employed by the State Department. In October, 2006, Reid and his wife, Katherine, had a baby girl and named her Stella Brian and Wetonnahs first grandchild! Brian and Wetonnahs daughter, Meagan, earned her Masters degree from the University of Texas at Austin and is employed in the Corporate Development Department at McCoy Corporations headquarters. In May, 2007, Meagan married Richard Jones.
In business, Brian has been actively involved with McCoys from the age of 17. Lumber yard worker, truck driver, floor sales, assistant store manager, store manager, merchandise manager, Vice President, Co-President and presently CEO and Chairman of the Board are all positions he has held during the past 35 years. This privately held company operates 87 McCoy locations in 5 states, with annual sales exceeding $550 million. He is also a partner in McCoy Remme Ranches, a cow-calf operation with land holdings in far West Texas.
Brian and Wetonnah attend Solid Rock Church in San Marcos. He serves on the board of the Lumbermans Association of Texas and Intimate Life Ministries, both headquartered in Austin. Personal interests include reading, traveling, swimming, walking and horseback riding.
Special Note: The McCoy family is the benefactor of the McCoy College of Business at Texas State University in San Marcos and will be introduced by the President of Texas State, Dr. Denise Trauth.
