On Friday, February 19, 2009, join us for a presentation by Allyson Peerman on the topic: Leading from Where You Are.
Our mission is to elevate the role of leadership in the lives of the citizens of Central Texas; to focus on the vitality and necessity of regional leadership capital; and to serve others through the process of encouraging individuals to grow, prosper and make a significant difference through the practice of leadership skills.
Allyson Peerman is AMDs Vice President of Public Affairs, responsible for the companys Government Affairs, Community Affairs and Corporate Responsibility efforts worldwide. In this role, Allyson oversees the companys public opinion matters, issues management, charitable giving, external affiliations, education issues and corporate responsibility leadership. In 2008, Allyson was instrumental in launching a corporate foundation at AMD, along with its signature education initiativeAMD Changing the Gamethat promotes youth game development around social issues.
Allyson has 30+ years experience in the field of public and community relations, including 21 years with AMD. She is an active member of the Austin community, where she currently serves on the Executive Committee of the Greater Austin Chamber of Commerce; as President-Elect of the Austin Area Research Organization; the board of the Austin Leadership Forum; and the Foundation Advisory Council of the University of Texas College of Education. She is a past member of International Advisory Board for the Center for Corporate Citizenship at Boston College.
Allyson is a recipient of the Sam Walton Business Leader Award for her efforts in education, and was named a Hero for Children by the Texas Education Agency. She was the first recipient of the Rostow Leadership Award given by The Austin Project and was subsequently recognized by the Lone Star Girl Scouts Council as a Woman of Distinction. In 2004, the Austin Business Journal named Allyson as the Profiles in Power winner.
Allyson graduated with honors from the University of Texas with a Public Relations degree. She and her husband Robert have lived in Austin for more than 30 years. They have two daughtersLander, a recent graduate of the University of Texas and Megan, a senior at Westlake High School.
The breakfast will be held from 7:30 until 9:00 a.m. on Friday, February 19th, at the Austin Club. The Austin Club is located on the north side of 9th Street between Congress and Brazos.
